I’m Sophie! I’m a designer interested in utilizing type as image to tell rich and diverse stories. I am specifically interested in the nitty gritty of typography, obsessing over layout/publication design, and on the real specific side, film title sequences.
As of right now, I am pursuing a B.F.A. in Design at The University of Texas at Austin School of Design and Creative Technologies and a minor in Art History.
I am a Phoenix native living in Austin and in my free time you can find me at the movie theatre (every week without fail), at a concert, oil painting, and eating out! This summer, you will find me in NYC, where I will be participating in UTNY, my university’s competitive, internship-first learning program.
My design is inspired by Tadao Ando, The Shining, the Arizona desert, textiles, legos, sticky notes, my diaries, Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act, Heinz Edelmann’s work with The Beatles, baked goods, Ed Ruscha, shadows, my twin sister, polka dots, Frank Lloyd Wright, 2000s video games, gift wrapping, Hello Kitty, my 5 year old self, and my dog- to name a few things.
